It was revealed on Friday that Matsugane-oyakata (former Tamarikido) of Nishonoseki-beya has tested positive to a PCR test for COVID-19. On Thursday, Matsugane had been on an outing to meet with possible recruits and decided to take a test afterwards just in case. The test came back positive around midnight of the same day, and he was admitted to a hospital soon after for supervision.
As soon as he heard the results, he reported them to a Sumida Ward health center. Those in recent contact with Matsugane-oyakata are undergoing tests as well. He says he did not go to Nishonoseki-beya at all during the July tournament, and he had not been around Nishonoseki personnel much either.
Thankfully the viral load is low, and Matsugane is not experiencing fever or any other symptoms currently. He will continue to follow advice from the healthcare professionals.
