We’ve watched little Enho get the better of giants such as Aoiyama, Tokushoryu, Chiyotairyu, and Daishoho to name just a few. But the one match we’ve all longed to see and that hasn’t occurred outside of exhibition or amateur sumo is Ichinojo vs. Enho. That is until today! It happened folks.
Yes the two have met in competition before going professional, and there was the time Ichinojo picked Enho up like a grocery bag while on a provincial tour between honbasho. But Monday’s action bestowed on us the real spectacle we’ve dreamed about since Enho burst onto the top division scene.
A difference of 234lbs/106kg in this match reminds us why sumo is such a unique and intriguing sport. Whether it be power and immovability or agility and leverage, each wrestler has the opportunity to use his advantage against his opponent. Each has the task of imposing his preferred game plan on the other. Today, the fight speaks for itself.
