Endo Out, Kiribayama Back In

Due to pain and effusion from an ACL injury, struggling Komusubi Endo has decided to sit out the rest of Aki Basho. He leaves on day 12 with only 3 wins (including some impressive ones), his make-koshi already having been decided. According to Oitekaze-oyakata, “It’s been like this, but when his right knee started filling with fluid around day 4 or 5, it became difficult to extract it.”

The concerned stablemaster went on to explain, “He can’t put out any power or bend his knee.” Endo is advised to move his knee as little as possible for the next week or so. He becomes the 11th salaried wrestler to withdraw this month.

In good news: M5 Kiribayama, who pulled out on day 10 due to a left rotator cuff injury, is planning to return to action on day 13. He must win two of his remaining three matches to achieve a majority of wins. Kiribayama will face a despirate Sekiwake Daieisho who is on the edge of make-koshi.
